Although never a fully fledged St Jacques member, I have helped the club out in the JRA and in friendlies on numerous occasions, (probably more of a hindrance when I played at 10 against Banks last year). In particular played quite a few JRA games in 2000-01 season when Guernsey first team opportunities and 2nd team matches were limited. Loved knocking over a nearly-half-way-line penalty for you guys on the way to beating Jersey 2nds 17-8. I love beating crapauds!!!!!
Have been playing rugby with the GRUFC since Claude Ford set up the minis section when I was about 7 or 8, including captaining the colts to successive draws against Jersey 29-29 and 0-0 and winning the Bachmann Cup, and the 2nds to Simon Chandler Memorial Trophy last year!
Although on the field there appears to be a bit of animosity whenever I play against your lot, I fully support your club and would like to think that during my time as captain of the colts and of the seconds I helped in improving the relations between GRUFC and St Jacques.
At the end of the day, if it wasn't for St Jacques there would be much less opportunity for people to play rugby on this island and we would all be worse off for it!!!
