Tried rugby in 1993 for the first time as I considered it safer than playing running back for the Guernsey Gladiators American Football team! Turned up to first training session, was asked where I played - I said, "don't know", they said "Hooker", I said "Okay". I now know why they all laughed, couldn't move for days after games but thought this normal until they let me play in the back row and let loose around the pitch.
Have always supported St Jacques, but played for Guernsey 1st's for a few seasons, even managing a Siam outing and several Fallaize appearances, until breaking my leg & ankle. Came back for more and broke my arm in four places second game back for St Jacques. Still back for more (much to my wife’s dismay) and proud to wear the black shirt, but currently playing in the backs taking it a bit easier, honestly!! |
