I started playing rugby at school in 1981 as it was an alternative to the other game with a round ball, which leaves me cold. From then on I have enjoyed every single game, my fist game was against St.Sampsons school, I played at no 8 and this game will always be etched into my brain as it hailed for about 78 of the 80 minutes. I enjoyed being able to "drop" the biggest and hardest bully on the St. Sampsons team every time he tried to get past me. Following playing at school I played for Sylvans until they folded and then joined St Jacques after a few years break. I still enjoy playing, although my ability may not be on a par with other players, and will continue to play until my lack of fitness prevents me. |
